Described as a “Surprise meeting between Italy and America” This is a very intriguing and unique beer.
Sam Calagione from Dogfish Head Brewery, one of the most well known American brewers, came to the brewery in Borgorose Italy, to create a special collaboration beer with Leo and the Borgo crew. First they picked a style, But obviously not a regular one…it had to be stronger than usual, and it had to be hoppy!. Leonardo chose the malt: Pilsner and Cara-Pils plus 1 of the hops Saaz, and then Sam chose the two additional hops, Simcoe and Warrior. Before the boil Sam mixed the hops creating a wonderfully perfumed potion. Once the mix was ready we started hopping. A fistful of hops added every minute for 60 minutes…The result? My Antonia…An intriguing beer, extremely perfumed, where floral and resiny notes mix together. The mouthful is explosive but balanced at the same time. The honey notes from the malts and the peppery ones from the hops mix in a very elegant and precise finish.

Their first and original beer brewed. Inspired by traditional British India Pale Ale’s, characterized by abundant hopping, and is customized with the use of American hops aroma. In the glass it is amber, with lively hues. On the nose there are notes of citrus (grapefruit and orange) and pepper. On the palate the carbonation is low, in homage to the beers of the England, there is a good body, with a long path to the bitter end,

ReAle with lots of Extra Hops!
The hops are different especially in the quantities, what changes most though is the technique of using hops. All hops are used in the last 10 minutes of boiling, in an amount 3 times greater than the ReAle. The result is an explosion of citrus scents. In a dry mouth, It starts bitter then gives way to a beautiful hint of mandarin orange that is extremely persistent. Addictive!

Created for the Slow Food inspired Eataly chain in Italy and for people that love to drink beer without all the fancy talk and highbrow approach. Made to the highest quality using premium Senatore Cappeli wheat. Creating a beer loaded with intense notes and golden yellow flesh with lots of fruit on the nose. Soft and elegant taste, with the sweetness of the malt coming through, blending perfectly with the fruity nose. Session beer Italian style. Very rewarding!

Brewed with Barley & Spelt flour, traditionally grown in the mountains region of the Duchess Regional Park. It looks golden, with thinly veiled orange reflections, the foam is rich and creamy. The nose is very broad, fruity (banana, pineapple, tropical fruit) and floral, with a light and pleasant peppery scent. On the palate the carbonation is fine, there is a slight acidity and good body. Hopping is moderate, the ending very nice and cool.

An ancient grain for a great beer.
The use of 55% of the enkir cereal grain (Triticum monococcum), in product is the lead actor driving the taste and colour of this beer. This ancient grain the first domesticated on the ground, gives the beer some wonderful resinous and spicy notes that blend well with notes of fruit with yellow flesh. Beer well balanced, delicate and soft in the mouth.

High-alcohol beer brewed according to the Belgium method of strong Ales. Nicknamed "Meditation" - for obvious reasons. It has a dark coloured robes of a monk, with ruby highlights and a nice cap of foam. On the nose there are clear hints of dried fruit (especially hazelnuts) and you can feel the alcohol. In the mouth the initial sensation is of great sweetness, very round and full bodied. Very long in taste that continue to evolve finishing with the tastes of cocoa and toasted notes.

They start by adding “King Porter” Kentucky tobacco leaves “Toscano”, The same ones used for production of the famous cigars. The result is a very dark beer with an extremely rich nose, of tobacco, scents mixed with spices and a hint of toasted hazelnut. In the mouth, slight acidity and peppery tobacco that gives tone, almost spicy. Very large, long, complex, especially compared to the low alcohol content.

Stacks Image 19270
96/100 Style
So you want a beer for summer or a session beer that actually has flavour!, fresh and light, to drink it all in one tasty sip, and have it actually taste good? Well, here it is! "Stelle e Strisce" - meaning 'Stars and Stripes' - is a refreshing but surprisingly intense Golden Ale, with a lighter shade of gold and an unusually low alcohol content. We dedicated it to 'Old Glory' because we use an interesting cocktail of American hops, most of them added in the dry hopping process. In this process, fresh hops are inserted directly into the fermentation process. This gives the brew exceptional freshness, intense hoppy aromas, and flavors of herbs and citrus throughout. All contribute to a crisp, light, and refreshing beer in the mouth at surprisingly low 3.5% ABV. The finish is perfectly balanced with notes of pleasant bitterness. An all around great beer, perfect for the warm months. We tasted this beer for the first time with one of the brewers from Brewdogs (at the brewery for a collaboration brew). We both had the same reaction..No way!, this is not a sub 4% beer!...so try it for yourself!

Dedicated to the creation of the latest Toscano cigar and to the Maledetto Toscano (damned Tuscan) Cigar Club, it mixes Belgian and British brewing cultures. It has an amber color and a deeply intense citrus and flowery nose. The hops and yeasts mix gives the beer a unique character. Chestnut beers are common in Italy and parts of France and of all we have tried this is the most enjoyable and a sensational beer. The chestnuts are dried on chestnut wood smoke for a few days and used in the production of barley malt with a concentration of 50%. The beer has a pale amber color with fine ivory foam. On the nose there are low notes of smoked chestnut & honey. In the mouth, soft and cozy, and a truly enjoyable beer drinking experience.

The result of a “8 hands brewing” with Toccalmatto, Opperbacco and Brewfist breweries, it is their own interpretation of a classical British IPA. The intense gold colour pairs the rich taste and the full body of this beer. The high IBU (about 70) is well balanced by the sweetness of the malts. British hops were used according to tradition, but in a very peculiar way involving the final hop-back. The beer aged in a wooden vat to give the sensation of the long journeys IPA made to reach India. The final dry-hopping after fermentation added freshness and smoothness.

Actually,
Prunus is so called after the cherry’s bothanical name, Prunus Avium or Cerasus according to variety. About 20% of fresh cherries with their stones were added to their spelt beer Duchessa . Differently from the typical Belgian kriek, it is not too sour as it keeps some of the Duchessa’s smoothness. Yet it’s also not sugary like you'd expect, thanks to the well balanced bitter aftertaste.
With its
5.8% ABV and its bright red color, Prunus is the perfect choice to start celebrating the New Year… and never stop for the following 12 months!

A collaboration between 2 masters. The aim, How would Birra Del Borgo's classic taste, if it was brewed in Scotland (by some crazy Scots :-)). The first of a number of variations imagining how it could have been if it was born in another place in the world. They will determine ingredients or techniques in consequence and we will “dress it up” every time in a different way, always leaving easily recognisable the original style.
In this case, of course, they started in
Scotland. They changed something in the recipe of our full-bodied, intensely hopped Pale Ale to let it taste more “Scottish-style”. Just don’t expect something too traditional, as we are talking about Brewdog!
They added to the usual malts they use for ReAle the
Pale Ale Marris Otter (one of the finest English barley malts) and a peat-smoked malt (the one they usually use to make Whisky) and they used a Scottish yeast. Also fermentation and ageing will have a Scottish twist, as after the first three days they put the beer into the wooden vats just to add some more smoked flavour.
What will come next? They can’t tell yet, but for now we are all going to wear a kilt…

An Ancient ale in every sense. 3 master brewers with different styles, one scientist and a recipe lost for centuries…Until now! The process involved the scientist performing complex analysis on ancient vessels that had been used to hold and store beer during the Etruscan age. From the analysis a recipe was created as close to the original as possible (brewed centuries ago). Using unusual ingredients like, Grano Saragolla (and ancient grain from Italy), Hazelnuts, pomegranates, Honey, tree resin, dried grapes and lastly a 1500 year old yeast.
The process involved a massive amount of research followed by a test batch in Rome with the 3 brewers. Each brewer then went away to brew a batch in a slightly different way. Birra Del Borgo in Terracotta.. the result will be available from Jan 2013. we loved it!

Previous years high 90's
As every year, the idea 'to start from the basic recipe of Royal playing with hops and malts to give some new features in a celebratory version', without digressing too much from the style of the original style. In this case, they have maintained the successful mix of hops (Hallertau Saphir, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin and Sorachi Ace) 6th Anniversary of the Royal adding boiling orange peels, gentian root, and a small percentage of other spices. The result is' an amber-colored beer with a bitter full and pleasant and charming bouquet of aromas ranging from tropical fruit all'agrumato of the best sunsets in the Mediterranean ...

I mean, how would the Fantozzi, "Shot game: triple-row ball back with real!"

This beer and its wood aged version are amazing!!!!! Only the best beer will do to celebrate Birra Del Borgo's birthday! This one tops the previous years and is set to be a major hit. We tried it with the brewers from Brewdog and we all loved it!

A special beer for a special Birthday.

Anniversario 7 follows some big footsteps from previous years anniversary beers all rated in the high 90's on Rate Beer. This does not disappoint and is definitely a peculiar beer and among the most waited for in their range.
Considering how much everybody loved last year version,
ReAle 6 Anniversario, they decided to keep its main features. Using the same malts from their classic ReAle and an interesting hops’ mix (which they added with a continuous hopping process during the boil, combined with dry hopping during the ageing) coming from the different Continents: Hallertau Saphir from Europe, Amarillo from America, Nelson Sauvin from Oceania and Sorachi Ace from Asia.
But Africa was missing… so they decided to add an alternative ingredient from this continent: roiboos (Aspalathus linearis), a sort of bush coming from South Africa. Its leaves are used to brew a kind of herbal tea also adding spices – in this case black pepper and orange zest. They also added a mix of cinnamon and other spices coming from Zanzibar. This gave an intense and nice aroma, with scents of tropical fruit and citrus.
But it’s not finished yet! they also made a
Special Edition (or we should say, a double special!), the “7 oak aged” matured in wooden barrels. Enjoy! (we will try and get our hands on this one as well)!
Don't miss out as this will not last long and we could only get a limited number of cases

If the standard version was not good enough, this one blew us away. We expected a heavy wood style beer but got a beer full of passionfruit and hints of wood.

Taking the Anniversario 7 one step further by ageing it in Oak for 6 to give it a truly amazing flavour. If the tasting session at the Birra Del Borgo party is anything to go by, this beer will be one of the most popular seasonal beers.

Described as the love story all in pink between the Raspberries and the Duchess Barley & Spelt. Made with sweeping adventure of spontaneous and controlled fermentation, passion and time. An extraordinary plot to Enjoy. Rubus idaeus raspberry is the lead actor of this beer. The beer starts with the Duchess ingredients and style and then combines fresh raspberries in a quantity of 100 grams per litre. The raspberries trigger a wild fermentation that gives beer its unique character with a pretty high acidity and well balanced aromas of fruit berries. Excellent as an aperitif, instead of a sparkling rosé.

A previous Bizzaro release, but due to popularity this has now become a 3 times a year seasonal release.

A sort of "collaboration beer" with the famous Belgian brewery Brasserie Cantillon: an interesting experiment on the world of spontaneous fermentation. Using the base of their classic Duchess beer - the spelt beer - They then cut it with a 20% Lambic Cantillon aged one year. The result is a unique beer that blends in an extraordinary way the characteristic acidity and harshness of the lambic with the gentle and delicate notes of the Duchess.

A very strange beer that comes with the ambition to give great elegance and drinkability to a super IPA at 10% alcohol. A hoppy beer created through the blending of different hops (American) and 'mashing of the dry hopping, then aged for over 1 year in vintage Domaine Dupoint wood barrels. The beer has a big body, but at the same time, resinous citrus notes give it an extraordinary freshness. A bizarro not to be missed!

After the Equilibrista, their beer inspired by the Champagne world, we are excited to bring you their new experiment on the “wine meets beer” theme. This time, though, they tipped the scales in favour of beer, adding to the Duchessa wort only a 25% of wine must: in this case they used Malvasia (coming from Tenuta di Bibbian winery), a white, aromatic grape variety which gives the beer a gentle and nice sharpness and an inusual, fruity nose. The beer is bottle-fermentd using Champagne-yeasts, and it has a quite intense “perlage” (bubbles) that makes it perfect as an aperitif or even for the whole meal. The “chaotic” label was designed byValentina De Luca, an Art student at the Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore Antonio Cederna of Velletri (Rome), who won their contest “Etichette Bizzarre”.
